What is "Advent"?
The word "advent" comes from the Latin, meaning "to come". It is the first "season" of
the church year in which the church awaits for the coming of Jesus. Certainly it is a
period of time where Christians prepare for the coming of Christmas, in celebration of
the birth of our Savior, but it is also a time in which we look into the future and wait for
his second coming, when he will take us all to our heavenly home.
